MOOR MOTHER (Camae Ayewa) is a national and international touring musician, poet, visual artist, and workshop facilitator, and has performed at numerous festivals, colleges, galleries, and museums around the world. Camae is a vocalist in three collaborative performance groups: Irreversible Entanglements, Moor Jewelry and 700bliss.
JULIANNA BARWICK crafts ethereal, largely wordless vistas of sound, built around multiple loops and layers of her angelic voice. Julianna (now based in Los Angeles) credits a rural church choir upbringing for her unique sound. She begins most tracks with a single phrase or refrain, then builds into a swirling mass of lush ambient folk.
NOVELLER is the solo electric guitar project of Brooklyn-based composer and filmmaker Sarah Lipstate. Noveller has toured with Iggy Pop, St. Vincent, Wire, Radiolab, Xiu Xiu, the Jesus Lizard, U.S. Girls, & Aidan Baker, and has also participated in Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Army, Ben Frost’s “Music for 6 Guitars” and Glenn Branca’s 100 guitar ensemble.
MARIAM THE BELIEVER is Mariam Wallentin’s solo project. Mariam is also one half of the vioce-and-drum duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums and a primary member and composer in the free jazz band Fire! Orchestra. With musical roots partly in improvisation, pop and soul, Mariam has crossed several multifaceted musical territories.
MIKA TAKEHARA is one of the most dynamic percussion/ marimba soloists working today, Mika executes powerful, mystical, dance-like performances. She debuted as a soloist with the Berliner Philharmonic Orchestra, and has since played with orchestras all over Europe. Mika also plays with the Saito Kinen Orchestra and the Mito Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Seiji Ozawa.
ROBERT AIKI AUBREY LOWE is an artist and multi-instrumentalist that works with voice in the realm of spontaneous music often under the moniker of Lichens. His is also a performing member of stoner metal legends OM. Most recently, creating patch pieces with modular synthesizer and singing to them has been a focus of live performance and recordings.
REBEKKA KARIJORD is a Norwegian-born, Stockholm based composer of music for film. She has over 30 performance based credits, and six acclaimed solo albums. Rebekka has toured extensively, and performs today using a vast databank of voices she has complied (including herself), in combination with live singing.
MELISSA AUF DER MAUR is a Montreal-born musician, singer-songwriter, photographer and actress, who saw tremendous success with her former bands The Smashing Pumpkins and Hole, as well as her solo work. She is the founder of the Basilica Hudson performance and arts center, as well as the annual 24-HR DRONE:EXPERIMENTS IN SOUND + MUSIC series, of which today’s event is a natural extension.
NATHAN LARSON is a film composer, producer and author who began his journey in the American hardcore punk scene. A transplanted New Yorker, he now lives in Malmö, and his award-winning film music career is long and varied. Nathan has created sound environment/installations for neighborhoods, galleries + planetariums, curated concerts (such as Malmö Live’s DREAM MUSIC) and produced/played in multiple bands.
TIME IS A MOUNTAIN is a trio featuring Andreas Weliin of Wildbirds & Peacedrums, plus band members from Tape, Fire! Orchestra, Mariam The Believer and Tonbruket.
LAU NAU aka Finland’s Laura Naukkarinen, works using both acoustic and electronic instruments, from field recordings to analogue synthesizers, from vocals and traditional instruments to musique concrete and found objects. Her songs are imbued with a cinematic breadth, and her idiosyncratic, finely honed sound world builds on a fragile, spectral otherness.
KALI MALONE is an American artist, based in Stockholm since 2012. Her solo works implement unique tuning systems in minimalist form for analog and digital synthesis often combined with acoustic instrumentation, such as pipe organ, string and wind instruments, lute and gong. Using synthetic and acoustic instrumentation, Malone’s rich harmonic textures emit a distinct emotive hue serving to generate a static and captivating depth of focus.
SOFIA JERNBERG is a Swedish experimental singer, composer, improviser and performer who strives to explore the “instrumental” possibilities of voice. Her vocabulary includes sounds and techniques that often contradict a conventional singing style.
SARAH VAN BUREN is an American DJ/ musician/ + organizer, who co-curates Basilica Hudsons 24-HR DRONE. She creates lo-fi “spooky pop”/ “astral blues”, using cassettes + analog soundscapes over which she vocalizes.
PUCE MARY is the solo moniker of Copenhagen based sound artist Frederikke Hoffmeier. She has explored the fields of industrial noise and experimental music with many releases on multiple labels. In performance and recording she employs textured sound collages and noise, as well as “industrial” music.
SUBCHAMBER ENSMBLE is a rotating group of (mostly) classically-trained musicians. Borrowing from La Monte Young’s minimalism and Alice Coltrane’s cascade-like flow of acoustic sound, performances revolve around the harp, strings, winds, tuned metal “tank” drums, and cassette tape.
CÆCILIE TRIER / CTM is a Copenhagen based singer, cellist and composer. CTM, standing for Cæcilie Trier Musik, marks the impersonal boundary where intimacies are developed, trampled, and searched through.
MARTA FORSBERG is a composer, sound artist and musician working within installation art and electronic music. Dedicated to creating an immersive environment, her work explores intimacy in music and performance through sound and light sculptures - a sonic visualization.
SONJA LABIANCA is a Danish alto sax player. She has been a creative force in Copenhagen, playing with such bands as Selvhenter, Valby Vokalgruppe, and Choir of Young Believers. Sonja’s debut solo album «About Room, Room to Be, Rooms» is a series of poetic, minimalist soundscapes…the music originates in the resonance phenomena from the acoustic saxophone when played against objects and in spaces with varying characteristics.
ERIK ENOCKSSON is a Swedish composer based in Stockholm. Known for his work with directors Jesper Ganslandt and Fredrik Wenzel, Enockssons hauntingly beautiful film scores to movies such as ”Farväl Falkenberg”, ”Man tänker sitt” and ”Apan” quickly gave him a cult following. Most recently active as a member of the Scandinavian constellation Body Sculptures.
CHRISTER BOTHÉN is a musician, composer and visual artist who has performed with such varied luminaries as Don Cherry, Mats Gustafsson’s Nu Ensemble & Fire Orchestra, and Tisha Mukarji. Christer plays piano, tenor sax, and the bass clarinet.
KATARINA HENRYSON (Lumen Voices) is one of the founding members of The Real Group. Since 2017, the space where singing and performance art meet is her new field of interest. After having served as the vocal co-coordinator for Marina Abramovic’s ”The Cleaner”, Katarina has since co created a number of works within this domain.
